You know that feeling when the first truly warmer days hit, and the sun seems to linger a little longer? It’s like something deep inside stirs, a whisper that says, “It’s time to move, to grow, to shed what’s no longer serving you.” That’s the magic of the Spring Equinox, and I’ve always loved harnessing this time of year for a personal reset.

Over the last 15 years of helping women just like you, I’ve seen the same patterns play out. We emerge from a cosy winter hibernation ready to tackle goals…but then the reality of longer days, busier schedules, and maybe that extra bit of winter fluff clinging on can bring its own unique stress. Good intentions get sidelined by cravings and feeling frazzled.

But what if this spring was different?  What if you could step into this season with energy,  calm, and the tools that genuinely transform those pesky cravings into lasting change?  Let’s dive in!

Protein: Your Craving-Busting, Energy-Boosting Superpower

I bet you know protein is important, but did you know it’s one of the most powerful weapons in your “feel-good arsenal”? Think of it this way: winter is like slow-burning fuel for your body. After a winter of hearty soups and stews, our bodies crave the building blocks to feel revitalised. Come spring, you need a brighter, hotter flame!  Here’s where protein shines:

Keepin’ It Real: Real-deal hunger pangs can easily masquerade as sugar cravings. Protein keeps you full and satisfied, making those tempting treats way less appealing.

Bye-Bye Energy Crashes: No more 3 PM cookie monster! Protein keeps blood sugar stable, which means steady energy, focus, and better moods.

Strong is the New Skinny: Forget the scale. Protein helps you build lean muscle, which is the key to a body that feels strong and capable and burns more even at rest.

Don’t worry. I’m not suggesting you drinking protein shakes all day. Simply prioritise it at every meal. Good protein doesn’t have to be complicated – think eggs for breakfast, a handful of nuts as a snack, and some lean chicken or lentil soup for dinner. Easy wins!

Spring Cleaning for Your Stress

Let’s be honest. Sometimes, feeling less stressed is easier said than done.

Does anyone else find the shift to longer days and more social plans kind of…stressful? There’s a subtle pressure that creeps in. Suddenly, it’s all about spring cleaning, “beach body” panic, and feeling like we need to be doing ALL THE THINGS.

Stress is your health journey’s worst enemy. It tells your body to hold on to those extra pounds and ignites cravings you didn’t even know you had. But remember, when that “frazzled feeling” takes over, your body shifts into survival mode—it thinks it needs quick energy, aka SUGAR.

Here's my go-to toolkit:

Move It to Lose It: Even 5 minutes of walking, stretching, or dancing tells your brain “we’re good, no need to panic.”

The Magic of Breath: When overwhelming hits, try this: 5 slow inhales, hold for a count, then long slow exhales when stress hits. It sounds simple, but it’s a game-changer.

Sleep: The Unrecognised Hero: I know you’ve heard it before, but quality sleep is non-negotiable for balanced hormones and stress resilience. When you’re well-rested, those stressful moments are way easier to handle.

The Power of Putting Pen to Paper

Along with nourishing your body and taming stress this spring, another simple practice can accelerate your journey of self-discovery: journaling.  Even jotting down a few thoughts each day can create tremendous changes and shifts.

If you’re looking for a beautiful space to capture your reflections, explore my collection of journals at Wellness Journey Shop. I created the “Embrace Your Brilliance” journal to help women connect with their inner light and uncover their unique strengths.

And don’t be afraid to express your creativity! Consider adding a favourite colouring book or some planners to your order to make your journaling practice even more playful and therapeutic.

My Secret Weapon: The Little-Known Tool That Changed Everything

Over the years, I’ve tried everything to help women overcome cravings and build healthier habits that truly stick. EFT- Emotional Freedom Techniques is one of the most powerful (and somewhat weird) tools. Think of it as acupuncture for your emotions, but instead of needles, you use tapping.

I was sceptical at first, but let me tell you, this stuff works. This gentle technique of tapping specific acupressure points while focusing on an issue has an amazingly calming effect.

Stress, anxiety or that negative voice in your head, the “give me all the chocolate!” cravings…EFT helps shift how you react to them, both in the moment and in the long run. You basically rewire your brain’s response. The intensity lessens, making it so much easier to make those good choices. It sounds out there, but trust me!

Your Invitation to Thrive

The Spring Equinox is about potential. It’s about you stepping into your brightest, most energised self. So, let this Spring Equinox be the start of something fresh and nourishing for you.  Add some good protein, find ways to calm that busy mind, and don’t be afraid to explore tools that help you tap into your deepest well-being (pun intended!). This is your season to bloom in every sense of the word.
